This happened...

More than one hundred women in music were approached to share our stories in a book about what we face as women in the music industry. Some of us included the voice of Dora the Explorer, Lavender from the film Matilda, Lady GaGa's dancer, Selina Gomez's keyboardist and many more. After we all submitted our essays for the book, we spent a day at Henson Studios in Hollywood for a warrior women photoshoot which was visited by Randy Jackson and Justin Timberlake.

We had a pre-Grammy party book launch at the historical Avalon Theatre in Hollywood. To accompany the book, an album was recorded that was long-listed for a Grammy. A few of the girls performed songs from the album and everyone got to sing backup for Wondaland Records recording artists, St. Beauty. Some in attendance were Janelle Monae, Spinderella, Vanessa Simmons, Kristinia DeBarge, Music Producer Focus and Angelique Bates.   

Every one of these women have a story to tell and gave so much of their time and effort to be a collective voice. Reading their stories is profound and thought provoking, heart wrenching and empowering. The experience was surreal but if my story even helped one person then it was worth it!
